    My Main Area of Interest for the thesis is Building Energy monitoring and management


     
    Expectation for CKR29: Because of my background in software development and energy monitoring in buildings I would hope that through this course I will get a better understanding of the latest developments and the latest research in this area. I would also hope to learn more about RFID technology and its applications within the Civil Engineering environment.

  • 1985-1986 Whelan & Grant Reinforced Concrete Sub-Contractors, UK - Site Engineer

      Duties included setting out, estimating and supervising concrete pours, preparing and monitoring concrete test samples  
     
  • 1987-1988 SMC (Software Manufacturing Consultants) Cork - Software Engineer
  •  
      Developed a database system to gather employee data from time clocks on a factory floor and prepare and send it to a mainframe based payroll system  
     
  • 1988-1990 Boeing Computer Services, Cork - Systems Analyst/Software Developer
  •  
      Worked on the development and maintenance of a program to translate plotting data from Gerber flat bed format to Versatec plotter format  
     
  • 1990-1993 ComputerLand Corp. - Pleasanton, California - Systems Analyst, Software Developer
  •  
      Developed a stock receiving module for the inventory component of a store management system including the addition of bar code technology  
     
  • 1993-2007 KLN Consulting Inc. - Burlingame, California and Cork - Self Employed Business and Engineering software Consultant
  •  
      Systems Analyst, Designer and developer on software systems for large corporations. Clients included a Pharmaceutical Company, an Engineering Consultancy, a Chemical Research Company and a Credit Card Company  
     
  • 2007-Present Engineering Resource Group - Self Employed Domestic and Commercial Building Energy Rating Assessor
  •  
      Started out as a Domestic and Non-Domestic Building Energy Rating Assessor but currently working on contract for SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) auditing the work of Domestic Assessors and providing technical support to SEAI in the areas of domestic and non-domestic BER Assessments
